© Norbert Breitenauer 2010 Study Programme: Educational Theory DEUTSCH Elective Course: ICT-Supported Teaching and Learning Objective: This elective course will offer an introduction into methods of teaching and learning based on new information and communication technologies (ICT). The goal is to gain a possible educational value-added vis-à-vis “conventional” teaching technologies and methods. The psychological approaches of behaviourism, cognitivism and constructivism will be discussed with regard to their significance for ICT-supported learning in order to draw the necessary conclusions and to determine application criteria for selecting educational multimedia software and for developing new organisational structures of instruction which differentiates between and adapts to individual needs. Another issue to be discussed will be the different schemes for using computers in certain subjects. We will also look at possible changes in the roles of students and teachers and will examine the new forms of interaction resulting from the use of ICT with regard to their social compatibility.   Contents: definition of teaching and learning; introduction into the psychology of learning (behaviourism, cognitivism, constructivism); classification and pedagogical evaluation of instructional and educational software (drill-and-practice software, tutorial programmes, hypermedia, simulations, Microworld); multimedia and Internet; computer room vs. computer corner; forms of interaction and new media; teleteaching and telelearning;......   [©opyright] [disclaimer] [©opyright] [disclaimer]
