  Elective Course: ICT-Supported Teaching and Learning 
  Objective: 
  This elective course will offer an introduction into methods of teaching and learning based 
  on new information and communication technologies (ICT). The goal is to gain a possible 
  educational value-added vis-à-vis “conventional” teaching technologies and methods. The 
  psychological approaches of behaviourism, cognitivism and constructivism will be discussed 
  with regard to their significance for ICT-supported learning in order to draw the necessary 
  conclusions and to determine application criteria for selecting educational multimedia 
  software and for developing new organisational structures of instruction which differentiates 
  between and adapts to individual needs. Another issue to be discussed will be the different 
  schemes for using computers in certain subjects. We will also look at possible changes in 
  the roles of students and teachers and will examine the new forms of interaction resulting 
  from the use of ICT with regard to their social compatibility. 
    
  Contents: 
  definition of teaching and learning; introduction into the psychology of learning (behaviourism, 
  cognitivism, constructivism); classification and pedagogical evaluation of instructional and 
  educational software (drill-and-practice software, tutorial programmes, hypermedia, 
  simulations, Microworld); multimedia and Internet; computer room vs. computer corner;
